Reading is also vitally important at this early stage of KS2 as they are expected to be able to access the work independently which can become much harder if reading levels are not as high as they should be. Books are readily available in class and children are reminded to make sure they have fresh ones on Friday. In KS2, we work towards greater independence and children taking ownership of their learning (within reason of course!) as this greatly helps them higher up the school and with transitions to Secondary School in the future. They are all changing them in class and reading independently everyday, but 1:1 reading at home and practising their fluency is hugely important.
